Uzbekistan has a continental climate with scorching summers and harsh winters. The best times to visit are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to October), when weather conditions are most favorable and landscapes most striking.
🌱 Early March: absolute calm and photos without tourists
- Temperatures: Temperatures generally range between 4 and 14°C during the day, with nights still cold, close to 0°C.
- Advantages: This is a perfect period for those who wish to visit sites in complete tranquility, with very few people in Khiva and moderate crowds in Samarkand.
- Disadvantages: The climate remains cool, with sometimes gray days and possible showers (even, rarely, a bit of snow!)
- Event: No specific event takes place at this time, but the pre-spring atmosphere allows you to discover the cities in a peaceful setting.
🎉 Third week of March – Navruz: Persian New Year / celebration of the beginning of spring
- Temperatures: Temperatures are generally pleasant, varying between 10 and 20°C depending on regions.
- Advantages: This period is ideal for a strong cultural experience with Navruz celebrations, the traditional Persian New Year celebrated throughout the country.
- Disadvantages: Crowds can be slightly higher, especially from local travelers who come to enjoy the festivities.
- Event: Navruz (or Navro'z in Uzbek) is celebrated with shared meals, songs, dances and the preparation of sumalak, a sweet cream made from germinated wheat, cooked all night in a large pot.

- Temperatures: Temperatures are mild and comfortable, ranging from 15 to 28°C depending on altitude and region.
- Advantages: Uzbek spring offers nature in bloom, bright days and numerous festivals across the country, in a joyful and colorful atmosphere.
- Disadvantages: This is high tourist season, so sites can be crowded and prices slightly higher.
- Event: Festivals such as Silk & Spices in Bukhara or Boysun Bahori in the mountains allow you to discover traditional culture in a festive atmosphere.
☀️ June – July – August: extreme heat but guaranteed tranquility
- Temperatures: Temperatures can easily reach 35 to 40°C, even 45°C in the south of the country in the middle of the afternoon.
- Advantages: This period attracts fewer tourists, making sites more accessible and prices more affordable; it's also ideal for exploring mountainous areas.
- Disadvantages: The heat can be overwhelming, making urban visits uncomfortable during the day. It's best to plan visits early in the morning or late afternoon.
- Event: Despite this, there are still some summer events such as the Sharq Taronalari festival in Samarkand or local celebrations in the Fergana Valley.
🍂 September – October: golden autumn and mild atmosphere
- Temperatures: Temperatures remain pleasant, between 15 and 30°C, gradually dropping to 20°C at the end of October. The climate is dry and mild, making it one of the best times to travel throughout the country.
- Advantages: Autumn is a luminous season, with beautiful golden light, abundant harvests and ideal weather for visiting the great cities of the Silk Road.
- Disadvantages: As in spring, this period is very popular with travelers, which can lead to high attendance at major sites.
- Event: This is harvest time and festivals such as the Ethnosport Festival, which celebrates traditional sports and local cultures.
